WAT U TALKIN’ BOUT WILLIS?
AYO! Who’s ready for some fuckin’ football?
So I mentioned, I was starting to practice this whole digital painting thing in an older post. At the same time I was looking forward to the start of the NFL season and was getting fired up over some “big hit” highlight video compilations I had seen on YouTube. It was then that I was reminded of the hit that 49ers MLB Patrick Willis put on Brad Smith of the Jets. He straight murdered him. Here’s what I came up with for our Fantasy Football league. I wanted to keep the colors dark with bold colorful highlights and keep my lines and strokes violent and raw. The final image will only be seen by those in the league. At final size the image will print great at 18 x 34 in if we make a poster out of it.
A couple of things I learned:
1. Paint in black and white to get the values down. Then add color.
2. Strokes and Line thickness give life and motion.
3. Save the details for last.
4. Keep working the image, it’s never “DONE”.
5. Patrick Willis would kill me on the football field.
Just a reminder: “CRACK! Brad Smith gets folded like a lawn chair.”
