DEADSTOCK = Also known as NOS (New Old Stock) is a term used heavily in the sneaker and apparel industry to define products that are no longer in production and have never been worn and are usually in it’s original packaging.
In the case of vinylmation collecting it’s not too far a stretch for collectors to use the word to describe their highly prized sealed cases of Park 1′s and Urban 1′s. The design for our “DEADSTOCK” custom vinylmation attempts to illustrate the parallels between the culture of sneaker collecting and that of vinylmation collecting. The rules are the same — the rarest designs or limited edition releases hold the highest value amongst collectors and are the most sought after and difficult to attain. However, once attained the item remains or becomes deadstock as they are no longer available to the buying public. They are instead kept in temperature controlled storage or behind UV protected glass cases to be admired and wished upon. The packaging is even maintained with the utmost care so as not to create even the slightest crease. You see, it’s not even about wearing the Jordan 1′s or even displaying your red balloon chaser, it’s all about being able to say “I’ve got that…and it’s Fresh Out Tha Box.”
So that’s Design No.3 of our 12 figure custom urban series—a red sneaker with fresh white laces. It would be a great addition to any vinylmation collection or even a cool gift for that sneaker junkie. The production numbers will be limited to 20 with only 15 being made available thru auction.
