As of 9am PST it became official…Barack Obama is now the President of the United States of America. PINK and I had been up since 7am to watch the whole motorcade on tv. Maybe it’s just that I’m more aware of politics or perhaps it is just the Obama syndrome, but I don’t recall ever seeing or caring to watch the inauguration with such great anticipation in all my life. It amazes me to see how many people camped out and braved the cold weather to just catch a glimpse of Obama’s limo as it traveled the 1.5 mile route to the capital. They estimate about 1 million supporters stretched far and wide witnessing history in the making. Millions more across the globe were glued to there tv’s.
Ever since watching Obama deliver his post election victory speech I’ve thought about what it truly meant for me and what I believe it should mean, at least partially, for minorities alike. As a minority and as either a supporter or non-supporter of Obama you can’t help but feel a part of that glass ceiling that encases equal opportunity in this country shatter and allow in the rays of hope not only for ourselves but for our children and their future families. That door is now open…LEVEL UP.
Later,
